Interview of Jeanne Triol about Life Project For Youth
Can you talk about LP4Y?
At the heart of LP4Y lies a deep-seated concern with the catastrophic situation facing a growing number of excluded Youth worldwide. There are currently 1.2 billion Youth aged 15 to 24, 600 millions of whom are living below the poverty threshold. In 2025 their number will reach 1 billion. Youth is the transition stage between childhood and adulthood, and it is a key stage in successfully escaping poverty. Our vision in LP4Y is that Young Adults who are victims of exclusion are capable of becoming great entrepreneurs if someone gives them a smile, a supporting word, room to grow, and trust. This is why LP4Y is dedicated to assist in the professional and social integration of Young Adults between 17 and 24 years of age facing extreme poverty and exclusion (Young mothers, street Youth, persons with disabilities, inmates, out of school Youth etc.).
What are the missions of LP4Y ?
LP4Y assists in the professional and social integration of Young Adults between 17 and 24 years of age facing extreme poverty and exclusion. We work on creating and developing Life Project Centers (LPCs) where the Youth are invited to join a “program” built around a micro-economic initiative and an adapted pedagogy. The Youth learn, in a team, how to run a small business, from the production to the sales.
What is the “Life Project Plan” ?
When they enter a program in LP4Y, the Youth need to project themselves in the future by thinking about their dreams and ambitions. Hard task, but that will become clearer and clearer as they progress in their Life Project Book, which guide them in the development of their Life Project Plan, through individual work and sharing sessions. Moreover, three times a year, the Youth have to present their Life Project Plan in front of their team and guests, parents, partners, etc.
What are the advantages of the LP4Y graduates?
The advantage of LP4Y graduates is that they have an actual business experience. In each program, they join a team with a Department: production team, purchase team, sales team, communication team, inventory team, budget team. They learn how to create, manage, and develop a small business, skills that students from universities sometimes do not have when they graduate.
What is the purpose of your partnerships?
The integration eco-system according to “insertion through entrepreneurship” pedagogy, specific to LP4Y, is made up by Companies, Institutions, Universities, Foundations, etc. who trust LP4Y, believe in the amazing potential of the youth, and actually experiment what they can bring. They are essential to the success of the professionnal integration of the youth.
Why becoming an LP4Y partner?
By helping the Youth to access the business world, our partners support them concretely. They give them a real chance to build their future. Thanks to their involvement during the PTE (“Professional Training for Entrepreneurs”), they also give a true “social entrepreneurship” dimension to their projects as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility and the social commitment of their team.
You are a company and you want to get involved? What can you do ?
