Travel to Siem Reap, Cambodia

Located less than an hour by plane from Ho Chi Minh, Siem Reap is the ideal destination for a long weekend trip. Returning to Cambodia in 1907, this region was previously under the rule of the Siamese. This is what gave the city its name, Siem Reap meaning "terraced Siamese".
Here you will discover not only the temples of Angkor, but also museums, markets and cultural performances.

Travel to Siem Reap - Places to visit

The temples of Angkor
This is THE must-see visit and certainly the main goal of your travel to Siem Reap.
Located 7km from the city, this former capital of the Khmer empire has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992.
The site houses a quarantine of temples and archaeological remains.

- Angkor Wat
The most famous and largest of Angkor's temples. Initially a Hindu temple, it was then dedicated to Buddhism. This double influence is reflected in its architecture, it is the best preserved and most visited temple.

- Ta Prohm
Nestled in the jungle, this temple will be familiar to you if you are a Tomb Raider fan. It was deliberately left in its original state when the Khmer Empire fell: thus, you will find the ruins intertwined with the trees of the jungle during the visit.

- Temple of Bayon
The last mountain temple built by King Jayavarman VII, it is known for its towers representing the face of Buddha. Beyond the towers, it houses galleries and a central sanctuary.

- Preah Khan
It is one of the most important complexes built during the Khmer empire. Beyond a temple, it embodies a real city of 56 hectares.

The National Museum of Angkor
Ideal if you want to understand Khmer culture, especially before visiting temples!
Under no circumstances should you miss the incredible room of the 1000 Buddhas.
