Le Rocher du Lion, a huge rocky plateau, shelters the ruins of the former royal palace of the former capital.
Sri Lanka's first ever political and religious capital is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can discover the palace, its temples and monuments.
Polonnaruwa, the country's second capital, is now a place of temples, where you can admire its many Buddha of Kalu Gal Vihara.
- Kandy and the temple of Buddha's tooth
The country's second largest city is home to one of Buddha's relics, his tooth, located in the Temple of the Tooth. You can also enjoy a walk on the lake
- Dambulla Caves
These 5 caves, located in the heart of a hill, contain countless Buddha statues and frescoes, making this place one of the sacred places of Buddhism.
In this city we are immersed in the country's colonial past. Don't miss the fort and lighthouse, as well as the 18th century Dutch Reformed Church.

- The beaches
Sri Lanka is famous for its beaches, especially those in the South. You can go to Trincomalee for quiet beaches (Uppuveli and Nilaveli), or Arugam Bay for a world famous surf sport.
- Tea plantation
Sri Lanka is one of the world's largest tea producers. You have the choice of the plantation you want to visit, between the Newburgh estate in Ella, Pedro's estate in Nuwara Eliya and Dambatenne in Haputale.
- National parks and forest reserve
The two most famous national parks are Yala and Uda Walawe, where you can admire many animals. The Sinaharaja Forest Reserve also bears witness to the tropical climate and green flora.
- Adam's peak
Climb the 5500 steps early to admire the sunrise. This sacred place would be the last earthly place where Buddha would have resided.

These are traditional small pancakes made from rice flour and coconut milk. The best known is to taste it with an egg on it
- Rice and curry
It is THE typical dish of the country. Curry can be made from meat or vegetables, served with rice. There are therefore countless versions of rice and curry.
- Kottu roti
Very common in Sri Lankan street food, this dish is made with roasts (thin wheat pancakes cut into mini slices) cooked on an iron plate with vegetables.

A rice with coconut milk, an essential part of local cuisine.
It is the typical alcohol of the country, made from coconut. Be careful if you drink it pure, it's strong enough!
